My emotions are a mix of jubilation and sorrow

« As the curtain falls on another thrilling Olympic Games, my emotions are a mix of jubilation and sorrow.

On one hand, my off and on eight-year journey with Cycling New Zeland where I’ve become deeply integrated with the culture, the team, and the athletes, fills me with pride. Witnessing the organization’s triumph over recent adversities to secure a stellar five medals—remarkably, all clinched by women—speaks volumes about the strength of its high-performance programmes. A hearty cheer for the Kiwis!

On the flip side, my intermittent 13-year association with Cycling Canada leaves me disheartened, as they faced an unexpected medal drought in Paris, a setback not seen since 2008. As a Canadian through and through, I hold onto hope for a swift resurgence. »
