« With about 10k to go, I came into one of the few corners on the course and right after the blind exit, I found myself headed straight into the bumper of two cars (commissary and Austrian team car) stopped in the middle of the road.

I was coming in quite fast and with no visible way around, I opted to send it straight into the ditch instead of the rear windshields.

Front flipped and landed somewhere into the thorny bushes with both hamstrings fully cramped up. (Thought I’d broken something down there for a sec)

All I wanted to do at that point was to quit the race then and there, but even though I felt like s… I got back up and decided to finish as best I could given the circumstances.

Gutted, but that’s bike racing sometimes. »
