Of course I left early, in true honesty, for me to finish would’ve needed my race to be smooth. Unfortunately I got sick, I think this came from pushing my body to the absolute limit over the past weeks to reach the best level possible.
I was devastated to leave, it took me some time to put my finger on those feelings.
It feels as tho I am driving summer tires on an icy day, no matter how good I am at cornering and avoiding obstacles, conditions are just not ideal and I just can’t catch any traction.
This Tour de France was a massive step in the good direction for me, and I was reminded many times in the past days not to let the disappointment over shadow this big win. The season is far from over AND it’s not winter all year round so eventually the ice will melt away.
Again massive thanks to my team and teammates, my coach, family and friends and fans and everyone supporting me.
