I’m so disappointed right now. Paris to Ancaster is one of my favorite races.
It’s one of the rare chance I get to connect with the cycling community in Canada, the race is fun, and the organizers do so much good for cycling and cyclocross in Canada.
It’s an important event for me, and this year especially since it was gravel Nationals.
I was leading the women’s race 50km in and all was good. But the next second, I hit a puddle and exploded my front tire.
In the cold and rain I tried to repair it for 20 min
two Co2, one tube, and even a man’s air compressor.
There was nothing to do
luckily, I met Gene and Johanne who warmed me up with their winter jacket and took me into their homes to get warm and call David to pick me up
(I was 60km from anywhere). I’m so bummed and I feel so deeply sorry to not have been able to finish the race. So sorry.
After getting sick at Sea Otter and now this today
not the early season I was hoping for!
But we’ll head home, reset, and hopefully turn things around. The season is still young.
Sorry to be so boring with all that
but this one just really annoys me, mostly because the P2A people are so great and I wanted to get this done for them.
Thanks Paris to Ancaster. I ’ll be back! Congrats to all who finished and to Ruby West for winning!
