If you want to sound off your opinion Sir Arévalo, specifically taking a shot at yours truly as being pretentious, our team in general and cite detail about performance of our teams’ riders, perhaps next time you should stay a little calmer and gather some facts. I would suggest that you are better to focus your energies into your own Nativo Concept cycling team to develop Canadian cyclists instead of believing you deserve to downgrade our riders and our hard work to develop a Canadian professional cycling team to the highest competitive level.
In your commentary you say that I mentioned that Planet Energy will have 6 riders on the Pro Tour event next September. Let me clarify here; I was taken literally in my discussion with the journalist when I meant to say, that I believe that six of our riders would be capable of selection by the national team. But honestly I should not limit the potential of our own athletes should I ? Actually, as a correction Sir Arvealo, I believe our team is capable to field the entire 8 rider roster, but maybe this is too pretentious.
You cited some names of our riders in your commentary and the 2009 National championship road race as a negative for our team, but you did not cite all the positive accomplishments of our entire team over the past 3 years. Why not? I believe you quoted “Tour of Missouri” in a previous commentary titled Bilan 2009 de l’état du cyclisme sur route au Québec as one of the highlights for Quebec road cyclists. I suppose you did not understand Sir Arévalo that ALL the talented Quebec riders present including David Veilleux race for a UCI Continental team and the majority race for Planet Energy. What a coincidence!
The last time I checked, Planet Energy pro cycling team is the only UCI continental team in Canada. Sir Arévalo, you downgrade sarcastically our “famous” Continental License. Dear Sir. It does mean something. There should be more people like you Sir Arévalo aiming for the same goal for your team. We welcome your enthusiasm to develop our talented Canadian riders but we welcome many more enthusiasts like yourself to develop our road cycling sport to higher levels. However, Please do not bad mouth our hard work. We are making a difference for Canadian cyclists.
How do you think Svein Tuft, Christian Meier, Dom Rollin, Ryder Hesjedal, Michael Barry made it to the Pro Tour ranks? They once began their careers as professionals in solid foundation racing programs provided by UCI Continental Teams!
How do you think the riders for the national team are going to prepare for the pro tour races in Quebec and Montreal? They will need to be competing on the UCI International calendar as a minimum and ideally in several 2.1 or 2.HC category races. That is a reality.
Do you think it will be important Sir Arévalo that our Planet Energy team has a UCI Continental status to give our riders the best opportunity to prepare physically and mentally for Pro Tour events?
Our team has worked hard and continues grow and build our depth of strength in all aspects; We do so for the benefit of our talented Canadian road athletes and their growth as professionals. Our Continental team competes internationally: Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay, United States, Europe. Don’t you understand Sir Arévalo, it is important for our road athletes to compete internationally to gain experience in higher levels of competition?
I am quite certain Sir Arévalo that you are now beginning to understand that our “UCI continental” status helps us to engage in the best possible UCI sanctioned international competitions that we have the privilege to compete in with our talented Canadian riders.
Our riders compete for valuable UCI points in order to improve our chances that more Canadian riders compete at the World Championships and Olympic games. I rest my point.

(Don’t you think the Dr. part is a little too pretentious? Yes I do. I never use it but only just once in this response to you Sir Arévalo)
