Stage 1: What a way to experience a place!

Day 1: 254 km starting in the small village of Ísafjörður, all the way to our safe heaven for the night at Hotel Laugarhóll near the town of Drangsnes. We finished the day in a hot pot with geothermique hot water.

The newsletter will be short, because I published a 23 minutes podcast taking you inside the first stage. I recorded most of the episode while on the bike (or during the day) to give you an intimate feel of what the experience is like.

As for me? My biggest takeaway today is that I realized to which extent the bike is the best way to experience a place. Since the pace is slower, and you are working to move yourself, all your senses are alert. You can hear the birds and the wind, you can see all the sheeps and wonderful mountains, you feel the wind and the landscape as your legs burn or you fly with an incredible tailwind, you can smell the lupines flowers and the salty ocean air, and you can taste the fresh water from the waterfalls or the local waffles. You get to live a place, and today, this is exactly what happened.

I'm finishing this ride with tired legs and a huge sense of gratitude towards my bike that allows me to experience things like this.

Iceland is incredible.

Time to sleep :)
