It’s been a long journey to get there!

« It’s another bittersweet in the ITT at Nationals!
But I’ll take it with pride, it’s been a long journey to get there!

I cross the finish line with mixed emotions, beyond the result.
I love time trialing so much, so so much. Having all the road to myself and just go fullgas!! It’s gotta be my favorite thing in the world!
And I became so good at it! I’m not the strongest rider out there but somehow when it’s time to go, I can just flip the switch and go FAST! I love how I came to master every little aspect of it, the preparation, the pacing, the pain management, etc.

What’s breaking my heart though, it’s all the hassle it takes to get to the start line, the stress of having to pull every piece of the puzzle together myself. My own gear, my own 8 years-old skinsuit, my own airbnb, rental car, staying up late in the night when the bikes are lost at the airport, panicking when a part of my bike breaks and hunting for the best mechanic who can see my bike "right now!" (I found it - thanks Derrek)
Even though I’ve gotten so pro at time trialing, the lack of support still make it feel very amateur like my first TT.
(Not everyone has the same journey and I’m not comparing, I’m certainly NOT saying it’s not fair - not at all. And I know that my "warrior" personality, determined mindset didn’t always help me open doors. That’s all fine.)
But after crossing the line I feel sadness and disappointment that the logistic and financial hurdles have started to feel heavier.
I wish I could compete in a professional manner in the sport I love most.

Anyhow, it’s nice to know that it wasn’t all for nothing and I can still ride pretty fast despite the hurdles!
As my coach said, if you do it yourself, then you don’t owe it to anybody. Thanks coach
