I felt like an old truck when all the flashers light up in the dash

« Yesterday was some kind of emotional rollercoaster!

Almost two years of no proper race calendars definitely put me on the back foot when Alison Jackson made her killer punch.

I felt like an old truck when all the flashers light up in the dash ! I did not feel like myself to say the least!

But thankfully Vincent Jourdain and Pascal Choquette were there to talk me out of it and inspired me to ride in the cars, just Keep riding, just keep fighting, reminding me I was a good bike racer and I could turn things around…

So I did, picked myself back together, legs came around and I desperately tried to convince the bunch to ride along…. Which I guess I was unsuccessful at convincing most of the girls a bike race isn’t over until it is, guess it’s the trend here for some of them.

But Hey! Turns out a rower is more helpful than bike riders at bringing the break back! Caileigh Filmer (2020 Olympic Bronze medalist) and I fought and we did come back ! Pulled back almost 3 mins with mostly 2, and we came back 500m to go (commissaires did not expect that !) This brings me to think… If only the race had been 200km what could’ve been? Will never know!

I got no cigar but also no regrets, I turned myself inside out and in again to bring the gap I gave to myself down, this was my little success. And like coach said, the form is there and really good, I rode faster than the girls out front, so I’ve got a big pencil ! Just need more races to sharpen it !

So I guess I have to keep working, stay patient and get excited for next year! I’ll have to settle with a disappointing 15th place but a proud few seconds gap to the front of the chase group »
