So if you want a little inspiration, here's the story of today. (sorry my brain is english tonight and too late to translate)
Things haven't been super smooth since I'm in Europe, so many obstacles... couldn't get any momentum, confidence was slipping... fun as well... the desire to fight thinner... It's not me, I always fight... but I'm no super-human.
Anyway, I showed up in Ardeche, I tried to make the breakaway everyday, as hard as I could. I would get close, but not quite.
Then last night at dinner, we had a good time with the team. When talking about the plan for tomorrow (big stage with so much climbing I ignored the number), I said ok tomorrow I'm just training endurance... My director Valentina Scandolara
said wait whattt?! No! Some peptalk and inspiration stories later... "you will try as hard as you can - again - and attack if you need but you have until km 90 to get to the climb before the climbers." I didn't think I could, but she convinced me to try.
The race starts, first climb is fine, I lose so many positions in the descent that I thought my race was over... chase back. get back on... attack, it worked, (well not quite to the end), but long enough to feel accomplished - and to survive the next crazy descent, and be there to help my teammate before the last climb.
What a day. All I needed to do was to try. So simple. Ok, good night
Stage 5 tomorrow
