Do you think is more dangerous to ride your bike or to catch the covid 19 ?

« If we look at the numbers alone, the virus has claimed over 50,000 lives in the U.S. Bicycle fatalities in the US are just under 1000 annually. The numbers would suggest that death from cycling is much less likely than death from the virus. However, one would then have to consider that not the entire population rides bikes. Plus, it’s much safer to ride bikes now that all the cars are out of the way. It’s a tough call »

« I don’t think of cycling as dangerous. I have been doing it for over 50 years. I have found it overall to be a peaceful escape. Relatively few times being laid up in bed or rushed off to the hospital.
I have chosen not to cycle through a world infected by covid 19. That feels risky. (I live in a city). »

I don’t have the virus, but that doesn’t mean I should be going out among people unless I have too. I ride for my own sanity. But I don’t ride with others at the moment. « 857 people died in bike accidents in the United States in 2018. I have to give the win to COVID-19, cars, swimming, motorcycles, pretty much everything is more dangerous than bicycling. »
