Folks, it was SOOOO CLOSE!!!

Giuseppe Marinoni rode an astonishing 38.334km in one hour - just over one lap (323m) short of the standing World Record of 38.657km held by Paul Martinez of France.

Although no World Record was broken, there were other impressive highlights to the day:

G. Marinoni was 2.6km faster 5 years after setting his World Record at age 75.
G. Marinoni set a very strong Canadian Record with his performance.
The Milton Velodrome saw the largest attendance ever since its PanAm opening.
G. Marinoni also beat his own record for providing a urine sample, which now stands at 3 hours and 15 minutes!

The day after Giuseppe returned to Montreal, he was out foraging for mushrooms, and the following day back on his bike to shake out his legs and ponder about his oh-so-close attempt.

We'd like to sincerely thank everyone for coming from far and wide to witness what turned out to be an energized and emotionally-charged event. We also want to thank our visiting artisits Makiko Kitama Art and Miguel Soro Garcia for having respectively come from British Columbia and Spain to show their works.

As you know, the Record Attempt was a free event, which was made possible by a fundraiser earlier in the year, so we'd like to thank those who supported us in making this great day happen. Having said that, expenses ended up outweighing our raised amount, so if you enjoyed your day and want a unique souvenir to frame and hang on your wall, please support us by clicking:

Lastly, we would like to inform you that a day of Hour Record Attempts is taking shape at the Milton Velodrome on September 23rd. Various athletes in different age groups will be undertaking the ultimate cycling effort in hopes of making the Milton Velodrome home to the most hour records. You can find out more about The Day of the Hour and reserve tickets by following there links:

Again, many many thanks to EVERYONE for all your support and enthusiam!!
