If you have an interest in diving, Alexandre Despatie, born on June 8, 1985, doesn't need a long presentation.

For new comers to the sport, lets remind that Alexandre won a gold medal at the tower at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1999, becoming at 13 the youngest to win a medal at these games.

Then Alexandre, now canadian senior record holder for 1M, 3M and the tower, finished fourth at the tower at Sydney's Olympic Games, best result for a male canadian diver at Olympics. And he won the silver medal at 3M at Athen's Olympic Games in 2004.

In 2003 he became World Champion at the 10M tower.

Youngest Diving Champion
Alexandre was named in the Guinness World Book of Records Millennium version, for being the youngest-ever male winner of an international diving event. Alexandre won gold at the 1998 Commonwealth Games platform-diving final in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the age of 13 years and 104 days !

- Despatie has dropped the 10-metre tower, March 5
- Alexandre withdrew from the final at 3M due to back pains at the Winter Nationals, Regina, March 6-9
- Despatie shelved from diving 4-6 weeks, April 10
- Silver medal at 3M at the Olympic Games, Beijing, August 18-19
