Vendredi 11 avril Criterium de 40 km pour les femmes, 60 km pour les hommes
L’étape de vendredi était censée être un critérium dans les rues de Santa Cruz. Elle a été déplacée sur le circuit automobile de Laguna Seca. Pourquoi ? La raison officielle : "changing from an easier stage to a more challenging one [to] improve the overall racing dynamics". La vraie raison : Someone failed to notice that the course originally chosen for Fridays race had SPEED BUMPS... d'indiquer Rob Jones de The Canadian Cyclist.

"It shouldn't be her goal to get those seconds when you already have a minute and a half (lead). So I just told her to chill a little bit and I just made her realize that."
