Étape #2, 1er février Kangar - Butterworth, 148.3 km,
L'étape a été gagnée en 3h 32m 55 à une vitesse moyenne de 41,79 km/h.
Les 118 premiers ont terminé dans le même temps mais, au classement général, les coureurs classés du 120e au 138e rang ont tous reçus le même temps parce qu'il y a eu accrochage survenu dans le dernier kilomètre, ce qui n'affecte alors pas le classement général.

Charles Dionne a été sévèrement blessé et est hors de course « with broken fingers and severe lacerations to his left thigh » indique Rob Jones de The Canadian Cyclist.

«The first crash involving some 20 riders did not result in any serious injuries but the second took several riders out and where they had to be sent to the hospital for treatment. The second pile-up that happened just within the 50km mark to the finish was a high-speed crash, which saw three riders, been confirmed as non-finishers. It was absolutely crazy in there. Everyone is so tensed up about winning that they forgot everything else," lamented Saturn's Nathan O'Neill, who is still in the leader's yellow jersey after the stage today. The three riders who were classified as non-finishers are Charles Dionne from team Saturn, David McKenzie from Flanders-Iteamnova and the captain of the Japanese national team Koki Shimbo » indiquent les organisateurs de la course.
