What a day it was to be a gravel racer. Mudbound, I will come back for you.
Racing Unbound was on my bingo card this year, but getting sick for it wasn’t.
My body completely shut down, and I had to stop after 240 km. It’s still double the distance I’ve ever raced before, and that’s something I’m proud of, even though I’m feeling sad right now about not finishing. There’s still so much for me to learn in this experience, and I’m incredibly lucky to have amazing people by my side helping me through it.
A special thank you to Haley Smith and Andrew L’Esperance for being awesome mentors this week and helping me to navigate the preparation for a challenge of this magnitude.
I feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing community. Seeing so many happy faces and incredibly motivated individuals is truly inspiring. Now it’s time to rest and prepare for the next part of the season, which I’m soooo excited about.
