We left Blanchester OH yesterday and finished somewhere in the big rollers of West Virginia. The rest of the night
crew woke up in Pensylvannia today, and day crew will get us somehere near Maryland. We should finish… today?

24 juin. Speeding through Colorado on my BMC TimeMachine-01 during nightshift was one of my favourite parts of
the RAAM course so far. This was also the first day we switched from 2-person 6-hour shifts to 4-person 12-hour shifts.
We get less rest this way, but it’s better for the crew and even more fun hanging with more teammates as we encourage
and support each other and make mostly "appropriate" jokes through the night. Being together is what’s important.

My first shift of brought my partner Mike and I from Borrego Springs, California in the sun and blistering, dry heat, all of the way to and across the Arizona border in the dark… And blistering heat, ha ha! Keeping cool during these early parts of the race is absolutely crucial.

Race Across America starts TODAY! My first shift will bring us towards Borrego Springs in California’s desert.
We’ll race towards Arizona next.

For 38 years, Race Across America (RAAM) has been challenging ultracyclists from around the globe to push their physical and mental limits to the farthest reaches. Starting in Oceanside, under one of the longest piers in California, RAAM spans over 3000 miles, climbs 175,000 feet, crosses 12 states, and finishes at City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland, the east coast sailing mecca. Open to amateur and professional racers, in solo, 2-, 4- and 8-person relay teams, the Race has become a global icon, having had over 35 countries represented.
