An already difficult race on Saturday was made more difficult for Team TIBCO-Silicon Bank when four team bikes were stolen before the event.

The race bikes were stolen from a hotel garage in Wapse, Netherlands either late Friday night or early Saturday morning before the start of the Ronde van Drenthe race.

« They were stolen over night so we discovered it early this morning before the race » said Ed Beamon, general manager of Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank. « The four bikes were our top-of-the-line Fuji Supreme and Fuji SL race bikes with Shimano Dura Ace components, Reynolds Aero 46 race wheels and InfoCrank powermeters. The bikes are black with a custom paint job featuring green and blue highlights. They will be hard for the thieves to sell as they are not available anywhere in the world. »

Team management is urging anyone with contacts in the Netherlands to spread the word about the theft. A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of the bikes. Please contact Ed Beamon at Edjsport@optonline.net with any information.
