Dec 27th2019 vs Jan 10th 2020.
Surgery was exactly one month ago.
Got an assessment done this morning and the ankle is strong enough to run in a straight line! But technically shouldn’t put any stress on the ankle 6 weeks post surgery and I was asked to hold off for another 2 weeks.
One stitches fell off, 4 more to go! The scar is still healing and I’m not cleared to swim yet
Still! Recovery is going well, mobility is better by the day and the scar looks much better »

Once a year, I must dress up for work.
And I really thought I had a free pass this year because technically, I should still be in a cast today!
First thing I did when I got out of the cast was buying a dress. For a while, I was afraid I will need to attend my event with Crocs...
But I pulled it off today!!! I can finally wear normal shoes !

Week 4 - walked 7km (no issue)
My recovery was going SO well, I was killing it! I could jump, row, lift, my ankle was doing awesome!
So on Week 6, it was time to try the zero-impact treadmill! And I actually received permission from my physio.
And then the ankle got huge, turned red, liquid started coming out of the scar and I had fever.
The recovery was too good to be true, it is really disappointing.
My surgeon gave me a mountain of antibiotics to treat the infection and asked me to "take it easy". For now, the infection isn’t too deep, but we don’t want the infection to get to the synthetic ligament. Because if it gets to the ligament, the surgeon has to take it out!
I was technically supposed to be able to swim today and I even packed my swimming suit for a workout tonight
but swimming is still out of reach for another 4 weeks
I really thought I was doing a good job at making sleeping a priority, but I guess I now need to plan more time in my week to sleep even more.
Week 5 - walked 8.5km (no issue)

Le Dr Lu avait dit à Elise le 23 janvier : « Take it easy » ! Elle a interprété ça, genre, ne pas mettre de pression sur sa cheville, comme ci-dessous.

This infection made me SO sick. Fever, ankle pain, mobility loss. Then started the antibiotics
my stomach was in agony, I couldn’t keep anything down, my mouth was dry and had a rash. Ended up at the hospital again to find out I was allergic to the antibiotics. When it rains, it pours
Was very thankful for knowing a great pharmacist in the ultra running community who helped me with all that medication drama!
I’m now at Day 14 out of 21 of the antibiotics. The ankle is still swollen but looks and feels so much better!
Saw the surgeon today and I am now cleared to SWIM ! I missed it so much !!! Can’t wait to return to the water and practice my butterfly
