Ankle surgery #3 is all done, but I have no idea how it went
Back in the summer, additional tests revealed my deltoid ligament was deeply ruptured in two places, which is a rare injury. 1 case in 500. And for these rare times, it happens to either football players or trail runners.
The surgeon was honest and admitted I was his one case in 500, he never performed this surgery before today. His recommendation was to open me up, make 2 holes in the bones and screw a synthetic ligament.
But while practicing on cadavers during the month of November, he realized the procedure is a lot more complex than expected.
So this morning, his plan was to cut me and try to stitch up the 2 tears. If they were too deep to reach, he would insert the synthetic ligament.
I woke up from surgery and never spoke to the surgeon. I have no idea what he did and if the procedure was successful
I’ll call his office tomorrow to get more details. For now, the pain is fully kicking in.
