Burning River 100 Mile Endurance Run
Willoughby, Ohio, 2-3 août 2014

2014 Burning River 100 Mile Endurance Run is a fast course and my goal was sub 24 hours.

I started the day strong and ran the first 50 miles in 10:15 ish. The legs were fresh and the energy was up, sub 24 hours was realistic and then… everything fell apart!

I spent the second half of the race puking and spending way too much time in the bushes to deal with stomach issues. I felt terrible and wanted to quit… but at the same time, I didn't want a second DNF in a row.

I am such a lucky girl! I walked into the mile 82 aid station complaining like a kid and a volunteer agreed to walk away from his aid station duties to pace me to the finishing line. He did an awesome job! He really kicked my butt out there and even protected me from a skunk at mile 93, ha! He took me to the finishing line in 26 hours 27 minutes.

I know I can do better but given the health issues I had to deal with, I'll take the buckle !

« So I have sad news to announce… my Burning River buckle is so big and heavy, it keeps falling off the belt!
So after wearing it for 15 minutes at work today on dress-down Friday, I had to take it off. Funny, right? »
